Stove Installation

Installation of a wood burning stove is a specialist job. Not only do building regulations have to be complied with but your installation should be registered as well, you than have come back if something is amiss and when you come to sell the house you have the full documentation required. Some useful hints; don't try to do it yourself, don't get a builder mate to do it but stick to a company that install stoves for a living. Its cheaper in the long run but more importantly safer. We have such an installer who works with us so if you are looking for a quality safe installation get in touch with us.

Log Supplies

sustainable log supplier

Were you aware that some log suppliers in Bristol actually import their logs from abroad? Hardly a green option. We trust to a local supplier who supplies well seasoned logs that are sourced and prepared locally. Backwell Logs are a great new company supplying quality products at excellent prices and with great delivery support. Importantly they are providing a sustainable product that supports our own green credentials. Check them out here https://backwell-logs.uk

HETAS

HETAS is a not for profit organisation offering competent person scheme for installers of biomass and solid fuel heating. We may advise you to check with HETAS to ensure there is a certificate of compliance lodged with them for your installation, especially if we identify problems with it. This should be your first port of call in the event you have no documentation in relation to it or you wish to make a complaint.

You can contact them on 01684 278170 or by email to info@hetas.co.uk

Smoke Control Area

All of Bristol is a smoke controlled area. What does this mean? It places a restriction on the fuels you can burn on your open fire or stove unless you have a particular exempt appliance. Check out the Council website for full details at bristol.gov,uk

Reducing Air Pollution

You may well have read the aim of the London Mayor to reduce particulate air pollution generated by home stoves and fires. We strongly support this aim, we all breathe the same air, and highlight that the whole of Bristol is a smoke free zone.

There is an excellent consumer advice page at https://burnright.co.uk

Here you can find a host of information about how you can significantly contribute to reducing pollution whilst having a stove or open fire.

Chimney Sweep Association

There are a number of professional associations for chimney sweeps in the UK. After operating as an independent sweep for a number of years we decided that joining an association would benefit our customers and the industry. Choosing the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps was fairly easy. Tom from Exeter Chimney Sweeps is a member of APICS and HETAS and often works with us in Bristol so a different association provides us with a new outlook. The Guild insist on ongoing professional development and provide contemporary updates to its members to ensure we remain up to date.

You can find us on the guild website by following this link
